My grandfather Robert Cook was in charge of this station in the late 50's up to his retirement in the early 60's after which he and my grandmother moved to 2 Castleleigh Court, Enfield Town. I have no memory of the fire station (I was born 1958 in Enfield) but have been told that my mother used to take me there in a pram to visit granddad. I do remember that bedtime stories from granddad were often tales of his time fighting fires in WW2 in the Mill Hill area (he took a firefighting job there around 1930 after leaving his factory firefighter job at the Lever Brothers works at Port Sunlight in the Wirral which he took up after WW1)

Hi Susan

Thank you for contacting me regarding your request. Unfortunately I do not hold any historical records for Edmonton as the information contained within the post was gathered from various online sources. However, you may find the information you require by contacting the fire station directly, or alternatively contacting the LFB Museum>

LFB Enfield on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LFBEnfield
LFB Museum on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LFBMuseum

Alternatively, you can contact the London Fire Brigade directly at https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/contact-us/

Hope this helps

My grandfather used to work at this fire station. His name was Victor Pickett and he retired in November 1967. I have a carriage clock that was presented to him on his retirement. Grandad passed away in 1986.

Do you have any historic records that may have mentioned my grandad, or perhaps photos? I believe, at one point, he used to chauffeur the then 'Chief', towards the end of his service.

Any information would be very, very gratefully received.
