Notes
London Fire Brigade Lee Green Fire Station was constructed and opened in 1906.
The station was built to replace the existing Metropolitan Fire Brigade structure constructed in 1896 on Lee High Road that was deemed no longer fit for purpose and needed replacement.
Due to the Arts and Crafts style of the building, the station was granted Grade II Listed Building status in 1973.
Greetings from New Zealand! My dad, Charles Barton, was stationed here throughout WW2. I also recall, in probably 1945 or 46, standing just about opposite the station watching the trams as they changed from an underground power supply to an overhead supply as they travelled to Eltham (and then the reverse on the way back to Lewisham).
Best wishes, Fred
