Twickenham Fire Station was constructed and opened by the Middlesex Fire Brigade in 1957.

The station was built to replace the existing MFB Station located on Queens Road that subsequently closed. However, this building still exists today in use as a private residence.

Following the creation of the Greater London Council, ownership of the station passed to the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

It was realised in the early 1980s that the station was woefully undersized for modern requirements, so it was extended and modernised, opening in 1989.

Richmond Fire Station was constructed in 1962 by Surrey Fire Brigade, being opened in December 1963.

The station was built to replace the Surrey Fire Brigade’s existing 1932 building located in the former offices and stables of the Kew Road Horse Tramway. The building survives today and was most recently used as a prep school.

Following the creation of the Greater London Council, ownership of the station passed to the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

Kingston Fire Station began construction in 1958 and was completed in December 1959, with the Surrey Fire Brigade opening the building in May 1960.

The station was built to replace the existing Surrey Fire Brigade station in the Fairfield Cattle Market that had become life-expired and was demolished shortly after closure.

Following the creation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries, ownership of the station passed to the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

New Malden Fire Station was constructed and opened by the London Fire Brigade in 1979.

The station was built to replace the previous Surrey Fire Brigade-built station located at the former civil buildings in Malden High Street that the LFB had inherited in 1965 following the formation of the Greater London Council.

Surbiton Fire Station was constructed and opened in 1931 by the Surbiton Fire Brigade.

In the lead-up to World War II the station’s crews were supplemented by the Auxiliary Fire Service in 1938 before coming under the control of the National Fire Service in 1941.

With the dissolution of the National Fire Service in 1948, control of the station was passed to the Surrey Fire Brigade.

The formation of the Greater London Council and the subsequent redrawing of boundaries saw the London Fire Brigade assume control of the station in 1965.

Sutton Fire Station was constructed and opened here in 1962 by Surrey Fire Brigade.

The station was built to replace their existing station in Throwley Way, which had opened in 1903 and was life expired.

Upon the formation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries, the station was passed to the responsibility of the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

Wallington Fire Station was constructed and opened by the Municipal Borough of Beddington & Wallington in 1938.

This station was built to replace the 1913 building located on the approach to Wallington Railway Station which was demolished around 1950.

The current station has seen its share of ownership changes during its life. It passed to the National Fire Service in 1941 before passing to the Surrey Fire Service upon the dissolution of the NFS in 1948.

The final change of ownership occurred due to the formation of the Greater London Council, with the station passing to the London Fire Brigade in 1965

Mitcham began construction in September 2013 with the building completed and the station opening on 23rd February 2015.

This new station, built under a London Fire Brigade Private Finance Initiative, replaced the 1928-built Mitcham Municipal Borough station on Lower Green West.

The former station was one of several that the London Fire Brigade had inherited with the creation of the Greater London Council in 1965.

Tooting Fire Station was constructed by the London County Council and opened in 1907.

This station was built to replace the 1868-built Metropolitan Fire Brigade station located on Balham High Road, which had become life-expired and was demolished.

The current station was awarded Grade II Listed Building status on 27th October 2009 as ‘a pleasing and well-composed LCC fire station in the Arts-and-Crafts manner’.

Wimbledon Fire Station was constructed and opened in 1989.

This station was built to replace the former Wimbledon Municipal Borough station dating from 1904, located on Queens Road.

The former station was vacated due to the construction of the Centre Court shopping centre. However, it survives today as retail premises as it was granted Grade II Listed Building status on 14th January 1986.

Wandsworth Fire Station was constructed and opened in 1958.

The station was built to replace the existing temporary fire station dating from 1955 that was constructed following the original 1891-built Metropolitan Fire Brigade building on the site being destroyed by an air raid on 16th November 1940.

Norbury Fire Station was constructed and opened by the Brigade in 1971.

The station was built to replace the 1914-built Croydon Fire Brigade station in Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath that the LFB had inherited from the Croydon Brigade following the formation of the Greater London Council in 1965.
