The current Finchley fire station was constructed and opened by the Municipal Borough of Finchley in 1936 to replace the existing station located in Hendon Lane, Church End, which is now part of a parade of shops.

Following the end of World War II, Finchley Fire Station was passed from the National Fire Service to the Middlesex Fire Brigade in 1948.

The final change of ownership occurred when the Greater London Council was formed in 1965 and the Middlesex Fire Brigade was absorbed into the London Fire Brigade.
