Notes

Dagenham Fire Station was constructed and opened on this site by Dagenham Urban District Council in 1938.

The station was constructed to replace the existing station located on Rainham Road South that had become unfit for purpose.

Following the end of World War II and the dissolution of the National Fire Service, ownership of the station passed to Essex County Fire Brigade in 1948.

The formation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries saw the station pass to the ownership of the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

As part of the London Fire Brigade’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI) programme, Dagenham was one of nine stations coming to the end of their operational life that were chosen to be replaced.

In late 2014, Dagenham’s appliances and crews were moved to Barking, Harold Hill and Romford stations before the station was demolished and building work on the new structure commenced.

Construction of the station was completed in late 2015 and it became fully operational on 28th January 2016
