Notes

Purley Fire Station began construction in February 2015 and opened in March 2016.

The station was built as a replacement for the former Coulsdon and Purley Fire Brigade station on the site dating from 1929 which was demolished to make way for the new structure. The Coulsdon and Purley Brigade had been absorbed into the LFB following the creation of the Greater London Council in 1965.

With the closure of the old station, the fire crews and their appliance were relocated to H36 Mitcham Fire Station for the duration of the works

The new station was authorised following the realisation that several London Fire Brigade Stations had reached the end of their operational lives. London Fire Brigade successfully applied for funds under a Private Finance Initiative deal and was awarded £51 million to rebuild ten fire stations, including Purley.
