The original fire station on this site was constructed and opened by the British Airport Authority in 1963.

Following the enlargement of the airport and its surroundings, the Airport Fire Service moved to purpose-built accommodation airside in the early 1990s.

London Fire Brigade assumed the tenancy of the building in 1993, although the site also houses London Ambulance Service’s Heathrow (A4) Ambulance Station and the vehicle fleet of Heathrow Air Ambulance.

Hayes Fire Station was constructed and opened in 1959 by the Middlesex Fire Brigade to replace their existing station located on Church Green.

Following the formation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries, the Middlesex Brigade and its stations were absorbed into the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

Construction of Feltham Fire Station by the Middlesex Fire Brigade began in 1960 following the need to replace their existing station on Hanworth Road.

Construction of Heston Fire Station was begun in 1935 by Heston and Isleworth Municipal Borough to replace existing stations at Twickenham Road, Isleworth and Montague Road, Hounslow. The new station was opened in 1936.

Following the end of World War II, Heston became part of the Middlesex Fire Brigade in 1948.

With the creation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries, the Middlesex Fire Brigade was absorbed into the London Fire Brigade in 1965.

Chiswick began construction in 1963 by the Middlesex Fire Brigade to replace their existing station on Chiswick High Road.

The new station opened in 1964 and replaced the existing station and the MFB station at Brentford.

Although the previous MFB station was subsequently demolished, an old station is still in use on Chiswick High Road. The former Brentford and Chiswick Municipal Borough station at 211 High Road survives today as a restaurant

London Fire Brigade began construction of Hammersmith Fire Station in late 2001 and it became operational in 2003.

Hammersmith was built to replace the London County Council 1913-built structure further along Shepherd’s Bush Road, which had become life-expired and closed.

The former station was bestowed with Grade II Listed Building Status on 16th June 1954 and survives today as a Public House.

Construction of Fulham Fire Station began in November 1895 by the London County Council, with the building opening in 1896.

The station was built to replace the existing station located a little further South along Fulham Road, which had reached the end of its operational life and was demolished.

Fulham was granted Grade II Listed Building status on 26th November 1990, before undergoing an extensive refurbishment and extension in 1994.

Construction of the London Fire Brigade Chelsea Fire Station began in 1963 by the London County Council, with the building opening the following year.

The station was built to replace the 1892-built Metropolitan Fire Brigade station on South Parade in Brompton, which had reached the end of its operational life.

The former station was granted Grade II Listed Building status on 7th November 1984.

Construction of London Fire Brigade Kensington Fire Station began in 1903 by the London County Council, with the building opening in 1905.

The station was built to replace the existing 1870-built Metropolitan Fire Brigade station on King Street, which had reached the end of its operational life and was subsequently demolished.

The current station was granted Grade II Listed Building status in 1991.

London Fire Brigade Ruislip Fire Station was constructed and opened by the Middlesex Fire Brigade in 1964.

The station was built to replace their existing station on Eastcote Road which had reached the end of its operational life and was subsequently demolished.

With the formation of the Greater London Council and the redrawing of boundaries in 1965, the station passed to the London Fire Brigade.

London Fire Brigade Northolt Fire Station was opened by the Middlesex Fire Brigade to replace their existing stations at Harrow-on-the-Hill and Greenford on 11th March 1963.

With the formation of the Greater London Council in 1965, the Middlesex Fire Brigade was amalgamated into the London Fire Brigade and the station passed ownership.

Wembley Urban District Council began construction of Wembley Fire Station in 1937 to replace their existing station in St Johns Road, with construction being completed and the station opening in July 1939.

Nationalisation of the fire service in 1947 saw Wembley taken over by the Middlesex Fire Brigade, who made the station their headquarters.

As befitted the station’s new function, a second floor was added to the existing structure in the early 1950s.

With the formation of the Greater London Council in 1965, the Middlesex FB, along with several others was amalgamated into the London Fire Brigade.

The 1980s saw the original building converted for office use, with the operational station accommodation being moved to an office block in the rear yard.

This was followed in 1996 with a single-storey block being constructed under the eastern canopy at the rear of the appliance bays.

London Fire Brigade Wembley Fire Station received Grade II listed status on 24th November 2000 for its special architectural interest as a fire station in the streamlined Moderne style of the 1930s.

Moving up to date, the original station building received a full refurbishment, with the space being returned to fire station use.

These works included the conversion of one of the appliance bays to a watchroom, and all works were completed in late 2020/early 2021
